Our Pharmacist

Vondalyn Wright, PharmD

Dr. Vondalyn Wright, affectionately known as Dr. Von, is a well respected Pharmacist and the owner of Health Matters Community Pharmacy. She completed her Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University College of Pharmacy in 2008. With over 20 years of dedicated service, Dr. Von’s role as the Pharmacist-In-Charge has made her a vital partner in advancing healthcare within our community. As the owner of an independent Tampa Neighborhood Pharmacy, her mission is to promote and sustain community health.

Dr. Wright’s experience in Florida has provided her with firsthand insight into the specific needs and barriers faced by this community in accessing proper healthcare. Alongside her team of highly trained healthcare professionals, they are enthusiastic about servicing the diverse healthcare needs of all Health Matters patients.

Lauryn Africa, PharmD

With nearly 16 years in the pharmaceutical field, Dr. Lauryn Africa has cultivated a people-centered approach to her profession. This perspective guided her decision to join the community-focused Health Matters team. Graduating from Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy in 2008 with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Lauryn boasts extensive experience as a retail pharmacist and pharmacy manager at major chain stores. A proud native of Mobile, Alabama, she now happily calls Tampa home. Lauryn sees pharmacy as not only a fulfilling career but also as a meaningful way to contribute her expertise towards enhancing the lives and health outcomes of the Tampa community.

Amber Williams-Banks, PharmD

Dr. Amber Williams-Banks, a curious scientist at heart and problem solver, has over 5 years experience as a Clinical Compounding Pharmacist. Following her undergraduate study she enlisted in the United States Army before attending the illustrious FAMU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Upon graduation she completed a specialized Compounding Residency allowing her to gain more skills in the making of unique customized medications. Her areas of expertise include pain management therapy, hormone replacement preparations, hair loss solutions, and veterinary medicine. When she’s not in the lab or with her family, Amber loves to volunteer, paint, and write articles for her blog Compound This to provide resources for others who share her love of compounding!

Our Pharmacy Technician

Lainey Wiles

Lainey is a native Floridian who grew up in Ruskin, South Hillsborough County. She has over 15 years of experience in the healthcare field, with a focus on pharmacy. Her career began in 2013 as a pharmacy technician, where she met her mentor, Vondalyn, at Sweetbay Supermarket’s Pharmacy Department. After four years of learning and growing alongside Dr. Von, Lainey was offered a lead technician position at Winn-Dixie in 2017. Two years later, she had the opportunity to reunite with Vondalyn at Health Matters Community Pharmacy, now located at The Well in East Tampa, where she continues to excel in her career.
